Oklahoma…
Well this has been an interesting week for a boy from the heart of the Twin Cities where the worst I’ve dealt with was a blizzard or two in my lifetime. Today, not even 48 hours after my bed started shaking while I was sleeping…due to the largest earthquake in Oklahoma’s history, I saw the storm chasers vehicles driving through town, looked up at the bright sunny sky, then over towards the distance where it looked like Morodor from Lord of the Rings. Tornado watch at 3:30 followed by outdoor physical training as the wind blew and lighting was seen sparkling in the distance. The weather here has been rather peculiar for someone like me, 115 degrees for the first two months, 34 degrees last week, 80 today with tornados and probable hail. Needless to say, I am ready to be done with Oklahoma.
Today was a step closer to my ultimate goal of leaving Altus AFB in my rearview mirror and never looking back. My entire class met up today and went to the flying squadron to be introduced to our instructors who will be flying with us and teaching us 1 on 1 in the classroom and also in the boom pod up in the great blue skies of America. Coincidentally my instructor was the only one not there today, so I had some other Boom Instructor go to my Simulator with me to make sure I knew everything I should have been taught in my 2 weeks in the Sim (BOPPT). The Sim went extremely well and he was impressed with my ability to make quick judgment calls and to do everything confidently and correctly. So after that Sim I have been officially accepted to the flight line, and am one step closer to flying.
Thanks for your time
Dan
