Veterans Day Weekend

This weekend we took a day to honor veterans who have served in the great cause of freedom and liberty for all. I have never felt more gratitude for those who came before me than I did this weekend. Both my grandpas fought in World War II and I know that what they went through is more than I will ever in my career experience. The best I can do is serve my country and serve in the community. This veterans day, I went around the city of Altus to collect food to help the organization Harvest for the Hungry. The people of Altus placed non-perishable foods in paper bags on their front porch and we drove around and collected them and brought them to the main collection location. When we arrived there with a truck overflowing with food, the local radio station asked to interview us. My MTL pointed to me and said “talk to him, He’s not shy” so I was on the radio talking about the Air Force and how we try to help out in the community. That was my fourth community service event I participated in, and I have realized how great it is to help others and how gratifying it is to spend time doing something for others than it is doing something for yourself.

Thanks for taking time to read this, I’ll be posting again after my first flight on Thursday afternoon. Love to all,

Dan
